One of the best ways to avoid an overly oily face is to make sure that you keep your face fresh and clean as much as possible. Be careful about the methods you use to wash your face, as you don’t want to dry your skin out in your quest to reduce the amount of oil on your face.

  • Spread raw homey on the face and leave it on for 15 minutes then wash with water.
  • Mix ice water with lime juice and apply to the oily areas on your face.
  • Mix egg whites with alum powder and leave on the face for 30 minutes then wash with clear water.
  • Coconut milk and coconut oil applied at nighttime will help minimize the amount of oil on the skin.

 

Other Ways to Reduce Oily Skin

If you do not want to use natural methods to get rid of the oil on your face or find that they are just not working for you here are a few other things that you can try.

  • Use a gel cleaner instead of cream to reduce the amount of residue left on your face and minimize the oil.
  • Avoid soap because it will dry your skin out too much causing your skin to produce even more oil to counterbalance the drying effects of the soap.
  • Use an alcohol free toner.
  • Try a clay based face mask.
  • Buy some special blotting paper to absorb extra oil throughout the day.

 

Benefits of Oily Skin

It might sound crazy but there actually are some advantages to having oily skin. Imagine the difference between a raisin and a grape. A grape has a lot of moisture while a raisin is dried and wrinkled. Excess oil may not be ideal but the positive side of having skin that is full of moisture is that you may avoid wrinkles and pre-mature aging.
