How to Put Together a Skin-Care Routine

It’s easy to be overwhelmed with so many skin care products to choose from, especially when you’re not sure what to use and how. Here is a step-by-step routine, which covers the basic types of products and the order in which to use them, no matter your skin type.

Mornings and Nights.

  1. Dry and sensitive skin will find a cleansing milk is best suited to their skin type, while oily and combination skin types will find a gel-based cleanser better.
  2. A toner removes any traces of your cleanser left behind, as well as tightens the skin and prepares it for the absorption of serums and creams. It helps regulate oil production and secretion, as well as reducing the appearance of pores.
  3. In the winter months, your skin will need more protection so listen to your skin. In the warmer months, you may prefer to choose a lighter cream so as to not clog your pores.

Once or twice a week.

  1. It’s a good idea to include an exfoliator into your weekly routine. This will slough away the build up of any dead skin cells, which can make your skin look dull and can cause breakouts. Be sure to use your exfoliator after your cleanser but before your toner.
  2. Find the mask that best speaks to your skincare needs and incorporate it into your routine. They can help address a variety of concerns, from acne, to dullness and redness, and it is a great way to relax before your nightly skin care routine.
  3. Eye Pads/Face Pads. These are perfect for the instant gratification junkies out there who want to give their appearance a boost. Eye pads help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, dark circles, and puffiness, while face pads plump up the look of skin for a firmer look – perfect for a big night out!
